The Malindo Experience

1 SEPTEMBER 2020

Time for the sequel to Malaysia Airways review, read it here.

Arrived at Subang Airport today to board a Malindo Flight to the Philipines. Was quite late, however, the self-check-in is still open, which is quite neat. Checked myself in, passed through the security and immigration, and was tp'ed to the aircraft.

Airport - Subang Airport

At first, the airport is very identical as it is a reference from the real-life Subang Airport. You can also recognize Malaysia Airways' Subang Airport vibes too, but its a bit smaller though. You can notice some lag in the game as there are 2 separate airports, one is the Departure Airport, which is Subang, and the Destination Airport, which is the Llo Llo International at the Philipines.

Aircraft - A321

According to Demosistorean, Malindo Air, in real-life, do not have an A321 in their fleet. However, Fly Malindo's CEO, Eric Yap, says that Fly Malindo is a fictional airline and does not have any relations with Malindo Air. Thus, an A321 is in their fleet.

The A321 livery is slightly different with Malindo Air. The tail is painted with their theme red and so are the wingtips. A simple livery including a white logo on the tail and the iconic "Malindo" text behind the cockpit.

Takeoff, Cruising and Landing Experience

[Wasn't there when the aircraft was taking off, apologies]

As mentioned above, I was tp'ed to the aircraft when it was at it's cruising altitude. Was given a menu afterwards. Not many choices, but it was better than nothing. Food modelling was fine, but my Margarita wasn't loaded. Service by the flight attendants is also fine. I'm surprised when I was given the Business Class seat even though I checked-in as Economy, what a privilege.

Landing at Llo Llo International was a bit rough. The touchdown was fine, but it was the taxi. The taxiway and the runway were too bumpy. My fellow mate who was sitting next to me, YouFoundAlexx had his OCD triggered when the aircraft wasn't aligned with the taxi lines at the parking spot. The image below shows the terrifying moment for Alex.

GC (Ground Crew) had a rough time parking the airstairs, almost glitching the plane. We disembarked the aircraft and boarded the buggy cars provided. We were bought to the red-striped box which is connected to the gate.

Overall Satisfaction

In the end, I'm satisfied. But there are some mistakes that can be fixed. Such as the bumpy taxiway and runway, and better techniques in disembarking the passengers. Hope you enjoyed this sequel in Malaysian Hospitality reviews.
